Road traffic claim
Rodney Nelson-Jones has recovered
£195,000 in compensation for TV presenter, Victoria Hollingsworth,
who was injured whilst filming Channel 4’s ‘A Place in the Sun’ in
Spain.

"Victoria sustained painful
injuries as a result of the accident and, although she has largely
recovered, the persistent hip and back problems will cause her
continuing discomfort. We are delighted to been able to recover
substantial compensation for her, so that she will be able to get
the treatment and assistance which she will need." |
Victoria was travelling in a car being driven
by a member of the production company, Freeform Productions
Limited, when she was involved in a serious accident. The driver
had overtaken a lorry when she lost control and the car left the
road, overturned and crashed.
The accident happened in April 2004 when
Victoria was 26 years old. She sustained a serious back
injury in the accident, which required an operation in a Spanish
hospital. Victoria remained in hospital for three weeks, recovering
from the operation.
Although she gradually recovered from this
injury and in July 2004 returned to work, Victoria still suffers
with back pain. In 2007 a hip injury resulting from the accident
also flared up. Since then, the injuries have caused Victoria
frequent pain and discomfort, making some every day activities a
struggle.
Freeform Productions Limited, the production
company, conceded 100% liability for the accident, taking
responsibility for the negligence of its driver.
The case was set for trial later this
year. However agreement was reached at the end of July at a
specially convened round table meeting attended by Victoria and the
lawyers on both sides. Victoria’s barrister William Latimer-Sayer
and Rodney Nelson-Jones negotiated a settlement of £195,000 for
Victoria to cover medical treatment and other future costs incurred
as a result of her injuries.
